New Business Inches Higher at Fannie

A minimal increase in monthly secondary activity was recorded for the Federal National Mortgage Association, while delinquency hit another six-year low.

Fannie Mae’s new business acquisitions reached were up less than 1 percent in November from October, according to monthly operational data.

Secondary activity at the Washington-based company was also slightly better than the same month last year.

COFI Rises Again

For the second month in a row, the Cost of Funds Index has increased, and it isn’t the only index on the rise.

During the month of November, the 11th District COFI increased nearly 2 basis points compared to the previous month.

It was the second consecutive monthly increase for the index, which fell to the lowest level on record in September.

Fixed Mortgage Rates Rise, But Could Retreat

Interest rates on home loans moved up this past week but could slide lower in the next report.

In the week ended Dec. 31, thirty-year fixed rates averaged 3.87 percent, according to Freddie Mac’s Primary Mortgage Market Survey.

The 30 year increased from the previous week, when it averaged 3.83 percent. But the average fell from 4.53 percent in the same week last year.

Titan Lenders Exiting Retail Fulfillment Space

A company that enables mortgage originators to outsource production functions has decided to no longer offer the service for the retail channel. Increased compliance risks impacted the decision.

Titan Lenders Corp. announced on Tuesday that it plans to shutter its general fulfillment service business for retail lenders.

The Denver-based firm began offering the services in 2007 as a way for lenders to improve productivity and increase closing capacity.
